Panel only, or the whole display?
A cracked MacBook Air screen is normally quoted as a complete display assembly. The bare panel costs less, and on this model it can be replaced on its own, without moving the display board across.
True Tone survives a panel-only replacement. It does not survive a full assembly replacement. That is the difference we see on the bench; we are not going to guess at why.
Apple does not sell bare panels. What is on the market for this model is aftermarket, and outside Apple and its authorised service providers there is no other source — that is simply how the part is supplied.
Teardown video
The video shows the 13-inch of the same generation. The panel-only procedure is the one we use on this model too.
Where to buy a bare panel for the A3241
We don't stock panels. These are search links; check the seller's listing states the panel only, not the full assembly.
